The two-handed sword should reach from the floor to your armpit or chin. It shouls have no side rings, and a long grip.

There are blunt, steel training swords from many makers. This one is preferred, and it is from woodenswords.com.

There are also economical nylon simulators available (Blackfencer). These have the weight and feel of steel, but are less than half the cost. They are from South Coast Swords, but can also be found from other vendors if out of stock.

We train with Bolognese nylon simulators from
(Purpleheart Armory).

Brochierro (Buckler)

Buckler

Held in one hand, this small shield is available in several sizes, but we recommend a 12" diameter, and not to exceed 3 lbs. We use this often.

Nylon buckers are also available (Cold Steel).

Rotella (Shield)

This is a full sized shield that covers the whole arm, and is 22 - 24 " in diameter. This item is not required, as we only occasionally use it.

Partisan, Spear, Pole Axe, Pole Hammer, Pike

This is a partisan, a broad-bladed spear simulator from woodenswords.com. They also supply rubber spear tips. Both fit on a 6 foot hexagonal pole (also from them). If you wish to take the spear/partisan class, we recommend getting this.

Polehammers from woodenswords.com are also highly recommended.

HEMA Heavy Sparring Jacket A heavy jacket is recommended for full contact sparring. SPES is the standard. Superior Fencing is good as well.
Protective Gloves There are heavy gloves for full contact sparring, and lighter gloves for lighter training. SPES makes the standard heavy gloves.
HEMA Mask
Leg Protection This is optional, but necessary for full contact sparring.

Cane

Cane

For canes, we recommend WOODENSWORDS.COM (Purpleheart Armory).

These are an important part of our training.
